Why?

Why did he do it?
They were the innocent,
Young and free,
Still had a life to lead.
To young to die,
It wasn’t their time,
But they were killed,
By him,
By proxy.
In his cold blooded rage.

Why did he do it?
They were not guilty,
In fact the opposite.
They died protecting the kids,
They loved.
They were the heroes,
In this terrible story.
Now dead,
In heaven,
Him repenting in hell.

Why did he do it?
The million dollar question,
The one without an answer.
Some say he was delusional,
Schizophrenic, a narcissist.
Mass murdering,
Simply by proxy.
Hurting those as he was hurt,
All those years ago,
By a broken family.

When will they realise?
The American gun laws,
They need to change.
Really the figures say it all.
In a single year,
39 people killed,
By firearms,
In the UK,
9,484 people,
Killed in the US.

I know I’m not that brilliant at writing poems, but I felt I could try. America needs to change its laws.

My heart’s with all those who have lost loved ones in this cold blooded mass murder.
